Massive Drug Seizure: Contraband Yaba Tablets Worth ₹50 Lakh Recovered Near Raghna Border

Dharmanagar: In a major success for the anti-narcotics drive along the international border, security forces seized a massive consignment of contraband Yaba tablets worth nearly half a crore rupees (₹50 lakh) near the Raghna International Checkpost in North Tripura.

Acting on a specific tip-off regarding cross-border smuggling networks, security personnel launched a targeted search operation near the India-Bangladesh border’s barbed wire fencing. During the operation, a hidden cache containing thousands of highly addictive Yaba tablets was unearthed. Intelligence sources strongly suspect that the high-value narcotics consignment was carefully stockpiled at the strategic border location by local peddlers, with the explicit intention of smuggling it across into Bangladesh under the cover of darkness.

However, the smugglers managed to flee into nearby dense vegetation before the security teams could seal the perimeter, leaving the accused at large. Law enforcement agencies have registered a case under the NDPS Act at the local police station and launched a comprehensive manhunt to track down the fleeing culprits. Patrolling has been heavily intensified across the Raghna frontier to foil further cross-border drug trafficking attempts.
