AGARTALA: A regional review meeting under the Intensified Malaria Elimination Project began on Thursday, with State Government Health Secretary Kiran Gitte stating that the rate of malaria infection in the state has declined significantly.
Addressing the review meeting of North Eastern states, Gitte attributed the decline to regular monitoring, rapid diagnosis, and timely, complete treatment services being provided across the region.
The three-day review meeting brings together health officials from across the Northeast to assess progress under the malaria elimination programme and discuss strategies to sustain and further improve the downward trend in infections.
Officials said continued emphasis on early detection and full treatment compliance remains central to the state’s efforts to eliminate malaria in the coming years.
