Major Success for PR Bari Police!

PR BARI: In a series of three consecutive operations since early Tuesday morning, the PR Bari police seized 80 bundles of clothing and approximately 74 kg of cannabis (ganja). Two Bolero vehicles and one e-rickshaw were impounded, and two individuals were arrested.

The first incident took place in Rangamura. Acting on a tip-off at around 3:30 AM today, a police team led by OC Ratan Rabi Das, SI Prasenjit Gope, and SI Niran Debbarma intercepted two Bolero vehicles. A total of 80 bundles of clothes were recovered from the vehicles. As the drivers failed to produce any valid documents, the goods were seized under Section 106 of the BNSS on suspicion of smuggling.

The second operation was conducted at Radhanagar No. 2 Tilla. The police, along with the District Mobile Forensic Team, jointly intercepted an e-rickshaw. A subsequent search led to the recovery of 40.420 kg of dry cannabis. Tridip Saha of Dimatali and a minor were arrested in connection with the incident, and a case has been registered under the NDPS Act.

The third raid took place near the IBB (Indo-Bangladesh Border) fence in Rajnagar Muslim Para. Police recovered 34 kg of cannabis packed in 18 packets (sixteen 2-kg packets and two 1-kg packets) from two plastic bags at an abandoned site. Since the contraband was left unclaimed, it was seized, and a search is underway to locate the owner.

SI Ratan Rabi Das of PR Bari Police Station stated, “Acting on confidential inputs, we conducted raids at three different locations in a single night. There were no valid documents for the clothes. Two persons have been arrested in connection with the cannabis seizure. The investigation is ongoing, and our operations to curb smuggling will continue.”

The seizure of over 74 kg of cannabis and 80 bundles of cloth in a single night has drawn widespread appreciation from local residents, who are lauding the police’s proactiveness in curbing smuggling across the border areas.
