Lack of Shelter Mars Product Display at Tripura Reverse Buyer Seller Meet

Agartala: The 2nd Tripura Reverse Buyer Seller Meet 2026, organised by the State Industries and Commerce Department, was held at a private hotel here, but the event was marred by inadequate arrangements for an outdoor product exhibition held alongside it.

Products manufactured by local entrepreneurs were displayed in an open space outside the hotel, but no tin shed or proper covering had been arranged to protect the items in case of rain. When rainfall occurred during the event, several products were left exposed, with stallholders seen hurriedly scrambling to move their goods to safety. Visible disarray followed among organisers as well, as authorities rushed to manage the situation.

The lapse drew criticism from entrepreneurs and exhibitors, who said the lack of basic precautionary measures could have damaged products on display and undermined the purpose of the exhibition meant to showcase local enterprise.

While the indoor proceedings of the Buyer Seller Meet continued as scheduled, the mismanagement outside raised questions over the planning and oversight of the event by the organising department.

No official statement was issued by the Industries and Commerce Department regarding the lapse at the time of filing this report.
