ARALIA (PRATAPGARH): A kidney patient and his ailing mother have alleged that their land, purchased over three decades ago, was illegally mutated in the name of an alleged land mafia figure, sparking demands for administrative justice.
Rajesh Saha and his mother, Minoti Rani Saha, claim the plot — bought by Minoti Rani in 1992 through a registered deed in Aralia — was fraudulently mutated in 2015 in favour of one Bhajan Das, allegedly linked to land grabbing during the previous CPI(M) regime. The family reportedly left the area after Rajesh’s father’s death, delaying the mutation process.
When Rajesh fell seriously ill in 2021 and the family sought to sell the land for treatment, they allegedly discovered the records had been altered. An RTI response reportedly confirmed Minoti Rani as the rightful owner, though possession remains with Das.
On Tuesday, while inspecting the land with local residents, Rajesh alleges he and others were attacked by Das and his associates, aggravating his medical condition.
The family has appealed to the Chief Minister for intervention and restoration of the land.
