Kailashahar Clash: TIPRA Motha Workers, ABVP Students Face Off Over Deputation

Kailashahar: Tension gripped Ramkrishna Mahavidyalaya in Kailashahar on Wednesday after a clash broke out between TIPRA Motha-backed TISF workers and ABVP students during a deputation submission, prompting police and central forces to intervene.

According to reports, a TISF delegation, led by the organisation’s district president Anukul Debbarma, arrived at the college around noon with prior permission to submit a deputation to Principal Dr. Ajit Barman. TISF alleged that ABVP students blocked their entry into the college premises and subsequently locked the main gate, launching a protest with slogans demanding “TIPRA Motha go back.”

As tempers flared, the situation on campus grew increasingly tense. Police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and central forces were deployed to the spot and escorted the TISF representatives to safety amid the standoff.

The Principal’s office has not yet issued an official statement on the incident. ABVP has reportedly countered the allegations, though details of their version were not immediately available.

The incident adds to a string of recent student-body confrontations across campuses, reflecting continuing friction between rival organisations over political turf in the region.
