Jatrapur Police Seize 47 kg Dried Cannabis from Abandoned Rubber Plantation

JATRAPUR: Police in Jatrapur seized 47 kg of dried cannabis from an abandoned rubber plantation near Thamma Mura village on Thursday night, acting on a tip-off, officials said.

Jatrapur police station OC Parthanath Bhowmik said the operation was launched immediately after secret information was received, with police proceeding to the specified location to conduct a search. During the operation, personnel found two sacks packed with dried cannabis, which were seized at around 9 pm.

The OC said the operation faced considerable difficulty due to heavy rain at the time.

No arrests have been made so far in connection with the seizure, and police said the identity of the person or persons behind the narcotics has not yet been established. Investigation into the matter is ongoing, with police attempting to trace the source and intended destination of the consignment.

The seizure is the latest in a series of narcotics recoveries reported from the Jatrapur police station area in recent times, amid continuing concerns over drug trafficking routes in the border region.
