GRPF Nabs Youth with 21.8 kg Cannabis Worth ₹5 Lakh at Agartala Railway Station

Agartala : The Government Railway Police Force (GRPF) arrested a 21-year-old youth from Platform No. 1 of Agartala Railway Station after seizing 21.815 kg of cannabis from his possession, in a major anti-narcotics operation.

The accused has been identified as Ayan Debbarma. According to police, he was apprehended while carrying the contraband in two backpacks, allegedly attempting to transport it through the station premises.

Police said the black-market value of the seized cannabis is estimated at approximately ₹5 lakh. Following his arrest, the accused has reportedly been taken into custody for further interrogation to ascertain the source of the drugs and his possible involvement in a wider trafficking network.

Officials said the operation reflects the GRPF’s ongoing efforts to curb the smuggling of narcotics through railway routes in the region, which have increasingly been used as transit points for drug trafficking in recent times.
