BISHALGARH: The state government’s new timing directive has been reduced to a mockery at the Bishalgarh SDM office, leaving ordinary citizens stranded and fueling public anger against the administration.
Despite recent government orders mandating a strict 9:30 AM start for five days a week, a rampant culture of absenteeism plagues the department. On Tuesday, multiple sections remained locked well past 10:00 AM. In the few open rooms, chairs were vacant as staff and officials casually strolled in closer to 11:00 AM. Locals who arrived early acting on the official guidelines were left waiting indefinitely. Reports suggest even the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Binki Saha, frequently operates on personal whims rather than official protocols.
Compounding the crisis is an institutionalized middleman racket operating freely inside and outside the premises. While honest citizens face severe harassment for legitimate paperwork, brokers swiftly clear illegal tasks—including processing deeds, altering land records (porcha), changing land classifications, and approving the illegal filling of water bodies.
SDM Binki Saha’s total failure to enforce discipline or dismantle this broker network has paralyzed the office. As structural corruption thrives, public resentment against the local administration continues to escalate rapidly.
