Gift of Life on Wheels: Minister Flags Off Rickshaw Union’s Blood Camp

MOHANPUR: A blood donation camp organised by the Electric Rickshaw Workers’ Union was inaugurated by Minister Ratan Lal Nath at Mohanpur on Wednesday.

The minister formally launched the camp, which saw participation from electric rickshaw drivers and members of the union coming forward to donate blood. The initiative was aimed at contributing to the local blood bank and supporting patients in need of transfusions at hospitals in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Nath is learnt to have appreciated the union’s initiative, noting that such camps play a crucial role in addressing blood shortages, particularly during emergencies. He encouraged more organisations and citizens to come forward for similar voluntary donation drives.

Union members said the camp reflected their commitment to social responsibility beyond their daily work as rickshaw operators, and expressed hope that such initiatives would continue on a regular basis.

Health department officials and volunteers were reportedly present to facilitate the donation process at the camp.
