Agartala: The foundation stone for a new community hall was laid at Shri Shri Anandamayee Kali Mata Bari in Jagaharimura on Friday, amid religious solemnity, ahead of the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.
The ceremony was held at 11 am at the temple premises under College Tilla post office in West Tripura. Funds for the construction have been sanctioned from the government development fund of Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Bhattacharya.
Temple authorities and local residents expressed hope that the new hall would enable religious, social and cultural events to be organised at the premises more effectively in the future. An atmosphere of festivity marked the temple ahead of the ceremony, with devotees expressing particular joy at the coincidence of the construction’s commencement with the Janmashtami festival.
Eminent persons, local residents, devotees and members of the temple committee were expected to attend the event.
Temple authorities have sought cooperation from all quarters in giving the event due publicity, expressing confidence that the community hall would go on to play a significant role in the social and religious life of the area’s residents in the years ahead.
