Family in Melaghar Char Mourns Loss of Two Sons Within Three Years

MELAGHAR: A family in the Melaghar Char area is grappling with profound grief after losing both their sons within a span of three years, family members and local residents said.

Malek Mia’s younger son, 32-year-old Monir Hossain, died of dengue fever three years ago. The family had not fully recovered from that loss when tragedy struck again this week — Malek Mia’s elder son, 39-year-old Jahangir Hossain, suffered a sudden stroke and was rushed to GB Hospital in Agartala in critical condition. He died while undergoing treatment.

Jahangir Hossain is survived by two young daughters, whose future now remains uncertain following their father’s death.

The successive losses have left the elderly parents devastated, with relatives and neighbours describing the situation as deeply painful for a family that has now buried two sons within a few years. Local residents said the incident has cast a pall of grief over the entire Melaghar Char area.

Family members said support from relatives and the local community continues to be extended to the grieving parents and the two young children during this difficult time.
