Electricity Consumers’ Body Submits 15-Point Charter of Demands to TSECL in Kailashahar

KAILASHAHAR: The Bidyut Grahak O Karmachari Kalyan Samiti (Electricity Consumers and Employees Welfare Association) submitted a memorandum containing a 15-point charter of demands to the Deputy General Manager of TSECL in Kailashahar on Tuesday, protesting the recent electricity tariff hike, frequent load-shedding, and deteriorating service quality.

After submitting the deputation at Gournagar, organisation representatives held a press conference at Kailashahar Press Club, where senior member Baishampayan Chakraborty alleged that the new tariff structure has significantly increased electricity bills, placing an additional financial burden on ordinary consumers.

Chakraborty also flagged concerns over the proposed introduction of smart meters, privatisation of services, staff shortages, and recurring power disruptions, demanding urgent redressal.

Among the key demands listed in the memorandum were withdrawal of the new tariff structure, restoration of the earlier digital meters, regularisation of contractual employees, uninterrupted power supply in Kailashahar, expedited completion of underground power line work, and modernisation of the Dharmanagar-Kailashahar 33 KV line.

The association also demanded that electricity service delivery in the area be brought back under direct TSECL control, replacing the current private service provider, Sai Company.

The organisation urged authorities to act swiftly on the demands to ease the burden on consumers.
