AGARTALA: Student and youth organisations DYFI (Democratic Youth Federation of India) and TYF (Tripura Youth Federation) submitted a joint deputation to IG (Law and Order) Manchak Yippar, raising concerns over a range of issues including rising incidents of theft, snatching, and robbery across the state, as well as alleged attacks on opposition leaders and workers.
According to sources, representatives of the two organisations met the IG at his office and handed over a memorandum outlining their concerns, alleging a deterioration in the state’s law and order situation in recent times.
The deputation reportedly highlighted growing public anxiety over street crime and burglary incidents in various parts of the state, alongside allegations of political violence targeting opposition leaders and cadres. The organisations urged the administration to take immediate and effective measures to curb such incidents and ensure the safety of citizens and political workers alike.
DYFI and TYF representatives reportedly demanded strict action against those involved in the alleged attacks and called for enhanced police vigilance in sensitive and crime-prone areas.
The IG is learnt to have assured the delegation that their concerns would be looked into and appropriate action taken wherever necessary, though no official statement has been issued by the police department so far.
