AGARTALA: A three-day Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation programme commenced on Sunday at Middle Pratapgarh Primary Health Centre, covering 58 locations across all wards under its jurisdiction, aimed at administering polio drops and routine vaccination to children in the area.
Officials said children from various localities are being brought to the primary health centre for immunisation, while health workers will conduct door-to-door visits to vaccinate children unable to attend the camps.
Ward No. 43 Councillor and Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta thanked the State Government for the initiative, stating that around 8,500 children out of 21,332 households in the area are targeted to be covered under the drive, which runs from June 28 to 30.
The programme was attended by Dr Sukhendra Nath, Director of the CMO’s office; Projit Sarkar, IAS, Sadar; and Dr Diman Sharma, Medical Officer-in-Charge of Middle Pratapgarh, among other health officials.
Authorities urged parents to ensure their children receive the polio dose and routine immunisation during the three-day window to strengthen the state’s polio-free status and overall child health coverage.
