TELIAMURA: A colourful “Tiranga Rally” was held on Tuesday at Gamaibari under the 29-Krishnapur Assembly constituency, with residents braving intense heat to mark the upcoming 80th anniversary of India’s independence.
Organized by the BJP’s Yuva Morcha of the 29-Krishnapur mandal, the rally was attended by Tribal Welfare Minister and local MLA Bikash Debbarma, along with Yuva Morcha president Nirmal Debnath, mandal vice-president Gopal Das, party workers, and residents of the area.
Participants, including school students, youth, and elderly residents, marched with the national flag through various roads in the area before the rally concluded back at Gamaibari. The enthusiastic participation of young schoolchildren despite the scorching heat drew particular attention.
Speaking to reporters after the rally, Debbarma said the event was organized to spread a message of patriotism among the public ahead of Independence Day and to instill respect for the national flag. He added that involving school students was aimed at making the younger generation aware of the country’s history of independence and the significance of the national flag.
The rally created a festive, patriotic atmosphere in the area despite the challenging weather conditions.
