Agartala:A bitter dispute over a makeup training course has triggered a flurry of allegations and counter-allegations at the East Women’s Police Station, with two women — student Kanika Chakraborty and trainer Uttara Nath — accusing each other of wrongdoing.
According to Kanika Chakraborty, she enrolled in June 2025 at a training centre run by Uttara Nath, alias Dia, paying a total of Rs 85,000 in instalments for a five-month course. She alleged that some cosmetic products purchased from the institute lacked an MRP and appeared to be counterfeit. She further claimed that although the course was meant to conclude within five months, she received her certificate only after nearly a year, in June 2026, causing prolonged dissatisfaction.
Trainer Uttara Nath, however, rejected the allegations as baseless, claiming she had provided Kanika extended hands-on training and even assisted her in setting up her own beauty parlour, including help with a trade licence and product selection. She alleged that despite this, Kanika had been threatening her and her institute even after receiving the certificate, prompting her to lodge a verbal complaint with the police.
Police summoned both parties for discussions, but no resolution was reached. While Uttara Nath claimed she has not filed any written case and remains open to teaching Kanika further, she alleged the accusations were aimed at defaming her institute and causing financial and reputational harm.
The conflicting claims have sparked local interest, with the matter now likely headed for further police inquiry and possible legal action.
