AGARTALA: A motorcycle was allegedly stolen from Agartala’s Nandannagar area overnight, sparking concern among local residents after CCTV footage reportedly captured the suspect making off with the vehicle.
According to the bike’s owner, Dulal Sheel, the motorcycle had been parked at its usual spot the previous night. On waking Friday morning, he found it missing. A search of the surrounding area failed to turn up any trace of the vehicle, following which the matter was reported to police.
Authorities reviewing CCTV footage from the site and nearby areas reportedly identified an unidentified individual seen taking the bike. Investigators are now working to trace the suspect using the footage, sources said.
The incident has unsettled residents in the area, with several questioning the adequacy of nighttime security measures despite CCTV surveillance being in place. “If thieves can get away so easily even with cameras around, we need to rethink how safe our streets are at night,” said one local resident.
Sheel has urged police to expedite the investigation and recover the stolen bike at the earliest.
