AGARTALA: A bhoomi puja and inaugural ceremony was held on Friday morning in the Pukurpar area of Ward 18 under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), marking the start of construction of a Tridev Temple.
The ceremony, conducted through traditional religious rites, was led by Ward 18 corporator Abhishek Dutta, who attended as chief guest. Other elected representatives, local dignitaries, and residents of the area were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Dutta said the initiative was undertaken in response to the long-standing expectations and religious sentiments of local residents. He expressed hope that the temple would benefit devout residents of the area and help develop a pleasant religious environment in Pukurpar once completed.
Local residents welcomed the move, saying the proposed temple would serve not only as a place of worship but also as a venue for social and cultural events in the neighbourhood.
The event was completed amid religious rituals and priestly chants, with participants describing a festive and enthusiastic mood among residents over the upcoming construction.
Several other ward representatives also took part in the ceremony alongside Dutta.
