AGARTALA: The All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) staged a protest rally in front of City Centre here today, as part of a nationwide agitation held from July 4 to July 8 over a five-point charter of demands centred on unemployment and examination reforms.
Addressing the gathering, AIDYO’s Tripura State President Bhabatosh Dey said the country’s youth continue to face acute unemployment, with lakhs of vacant posts in Central and State government departments remaining unfilled. He alleged widespread corruption in recruitment processes and examination-conducting bodies at both levels.
Dey referred to the cancellation of the NEET-UG examination for nearly 22 lakh candidates following an alleged question paper leak, which he said had triggered nationwide student and youth protests demanding scrapping of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The five demands raised by AIDYO include immediate filling of vacant government posts, assured employment for the unemployed, scrapping of the NTA, transparency in all recruitment and admission examinations, and the resignation of the Union Education Minister.
Dey urged the youth of Tripura to join a united movement in support of these demands, noting that similar protests were being held across the country, including an ongoing agitation at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
The rally was organised by AIDYO’s Tripura State Committee as part of its nationwide campaign.
