Ahead of Independence Day, Police Conduct Snap Checking Drive in Battala

AGARTALA: With Independence Day being observed tomorrow, security has been tightened across the state, with police carrying out special checking drives at various locations as part of heightened vigilance measures.

As part of this exercise, West Police Station personnel carried out a sudden checking operation in the Battala area on Friday, aimed at ensuring law and order ahead of the national celebration.

The operation was led by Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pannalal Sen, accompanied by a large contingent of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel, who fanned out across the area to conduct checks.

Officials said such special drives have been intensified across the state in the run-up to Independence Day, with police and security forces conducting frisking, vehicle checks and area sanitisation to rule out any untoward incident during the celebrations.

Security has similarly been stepped up at other sensitive locations across the state, with additional deployment of police and central forces at key installations, markets and public gathering points.

Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with security personnel during these checks and to report any suspicious activity immediately, as part of the collective effort to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Independence Day.
