AGARTALA: The Department of Social Welfare and Social Education organised an awareness programme at Town Hall here on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, bringing together senior state officials and dignitaries to highlight the fight against substance abuse.
The event was attended by Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumder, Tripura State Commission for Women Chairperson Jharna Debbarma, West Tripura Zilla Parishad Chairperson Biswajit Sheel, West District Magistrate Dr. Bishal Kumar, Tripura State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Chairperson Jayanti Debbarma, Social Welfare and Social Education Department Secretary Tapan Kumar Das, and West District Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak.
The gathering underscored the need for collective action to curb drug abuse and trafficking, particularly among the youth, with officials reiterating the government’s commitment to strengthening awareness and enforcement measures across the state.
