AGARTALA: Nearly 500 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) received approval letters for their new homes on Thursday, marking another step forward in the government’s initiative to fulfil the housing dreams of the poor, at an event held in West Anandanagar Gram Panchayat under the 18-Suryamaninagar Assembly Constituency.
The initiative was organised by the West Anandanagar Gram Panchayat, with approval letters handed over to genuine beneficiaries identified under the scheme.
Ramprasad Paul, MLA of the constituency and Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, attended as chief guest. Also present at the event were Dukli R.D. Block Chairman Bhulan Saha, the Pradhan of West Anandanagar Gram Panchayat, along with other public representatives and administrative officials.
Addressing the gathering while distributing the approval letters, the guests said the joint initiative of the Central and State governments under PMAY is helping realise the dream of a pucca roof for poor and underprivileged families. They emphasised that ensuring the scheme’s benefits reach genuine and deserving beneficiaries remains the government’s foremost priority.
Beneficiaries at the event expressed visible relief and joy upon receiving their approval letters, with many describing a long wait finally coming to an end. Several attendees said they were hopeful of soon having a permanent home of their own, and expressed gratitude to the Central and State governments for the initiative.
Officials indicated that construction under the scheme is expected to proceed in phases, with further monitoring to ensure timely completion of the housing units.
