200 Brinjal Plants Uprooted in Overnight Attack on Farmer’s Field at Baishgharia, Losses Pegged at Over ₹1 Lakh

Baishgharia : A farmer in Baishgharia has suffered heavy losses after unidentified miscreants allegedly entered his agricultural field under cover of night and uprooted nearly 200 brinjal plants, causing an estimated loss of over one lakh rupees.

The affected farmer, identified as Sadhan Majumdar, reportedly returned home after his usual day’s work in the field. The next morning, upon returning to inspect his crop, he found that most of the brinjal plants had been uprooted from the soil, destroying months of labour in what appeared to be a deliberate act.

According to the farmer, he had cultivated brinjal on the land in hopes of sustaining his household and securing future income through crop sales, but the overnight destruction has dealt a severe blow to those plans.

The incident has caused considerable stir in the locality, with the identity of the culprits yet to be established. The farmer has demanded that those responsible be identified and strict action taken against them.

Police are yet to comment on the matter, and the exact motive behind the alleged attack remains unclear pending investigation.
