Apple raises prices of MacBooks, iPads and Home devices in India amid global AI‑driven cost surge

Apple has sharply increased prices of several major products in India — including its newest MacBooks, iPads, HomePods and Apple TV models — with hikes reaching up to ₹1,00,000, marking one of the company’s steepest adjustments in recent years. The move comes just days after CEO Tim Cook said rising component costs and the global AI hardware boom were making price hikes “unavoidable.”

According to industry trackers, the most noticeable jump is in the newly launched MacBook Neo, which debuted at ₹69,900 but now costs ₹79,900, a rise of ₹10,000 — nearly a 14% increase. Other MacBook variants, especially those equipped with Apple’s latest AI‑optimised chipsets, have seen even steeper revisions. High‑end configurations of the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro have reportedly climbed by ₹40,000–₹1,00,000, depending on storage and processor options.

Apple’s HomePod and Apple TV 4K have also become more expensive, reflecting broader supply‑chain pressures and rising manufacturing costs linked to advanced silicon, neural engines and AI‑ready components. Interestingly, iPhones have been spared, with no price changes announced for the iPhone 15 series or older models — a strategic move analysts say is aimed at maintaining Apple’s competitive position in India’s fast‑growing smartphone market.

The price hikes come at a time when Apple is aggressively pushing AI‑powered features across its ecosystem, including on‑device intelligence, enhanced machine‑learning capabilities and next‑generation neural processors. These upgrades, while boosting performance, have also increased production costs globally.

Industry experts say the adjustments could impact Apple’s market share in India, where price sensitivity remains high despite growing demand for premium devices. However, Apple’s expanding retail presence and rising financing options may cushion the effect for consumers.
