Saudi Airport Security Crisis: Indian Carriers Suspend Flights to Riyadh Following Houthi Attack Threat

Indian airlines, including Air India Express, IndiGo, and Akasa Air, have taken swift action to suspend, cancel, or divert all flights to and from Riyadh until October 10. This urgent disruption comes in the wake of an escalating security situation triggered by a fresh ballistic missile strike claim by Yemen’s Houthi rebels targeting the King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital.

Major carriers are prioritizing passenger safety amidst the developing regional tensions. Akasa Air specifically postponed its Kochi-Riyadh and Riyadh-Kochi routes scheduled for October 8 (Flights QP 523 and QP 524). In response to the widespread cancellations, the affected airlines have reassured passengers that full refunds will be issued. For passengers utilizing Akasa Air, the full ticket amount will be credited back to the original source of payment within seven days.

Airlines and aviation authorities are closely monitoring the evolving developments at Riyadh airport to assess when normal operations can safely resume. In the meantime, travelers booked on routes through October 10 are advised to check directly with their respective airlines for real-time status updates and rebooking options.
