Boulder Bust: Tourist Vehicle Escapes Landslide on Tawang Highway by a Whisker

ITANAGAR: A tourist vehicle had a narrow escape after a large boulder came crashing down from a hillside on the Dirang-Padma road in Arunachal Pradesh, amid a major landslide along the Tawang National Highway.

According to the information available, the boulder suddenly dislodged from the slope and began rolling towards the vehicle carrying tourists. Sensing danger, the driver moved the vehicle away from the spot in time, preventing a potentially serious accident.

Video of the incident, which has been circulating on social media, shows the vehicle on the muddy, debris-strewn road as rocks tumble down the hill beside it. The occupants escaped unhurt.

No casualties have been reported in the incident.

The Tawang route is a key corridor for tourists and local traffic and is prone to landslides, which frequently disrupt movement along the highway.
