The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections delivered a decisive victory for the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), which secured three of the four central panel posts, reaffirming its dominance on campus. The Vice‑President’s post was won by independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen, while the Congress‑affiliated NSUI failed to win a single seat.
The winners include Yash Dabas (President), Riya Chhawdi (Secretary), and Lakshya Raj Singh (Joint Secretary). ABVP leaders celebrated the results as a reflection of their “nation‑first” ideology and continuous engagement with students. Nagar, an ABVP representative, said the outcome shows that Gen Z voters continue to support RSS‑aligned ideas and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development vision.
The election also highlighted internal fractures within NSUI. Rebel candidate Vishesh Yadav contested independently for Joint Secretary, splitting the opposition vote and helping ABVP secure the seat. Despite NSUI’s campaign focusing on issues such as alleged paper leaks and the Satya Niketan building collapse, the party could not convert its messaging into electoral gains.
Voter turnout reached 40.46%, the highest in three years, signalling strong student engagement. DU is often called “Mini Bharat” because of its diverse student population, and political observers frequently view DUSU results as a micro‑reflection of national political sentiment. This year’s outcome suggests a continued saffron tilt on campus.
