The United States has lifted export restrictions on Anthropic’s advanced AI systems Fable‑5 and Mythos‑5, clearing the way for the company to restore global access to its most powerful models. Anthropic confirmed that the Department of Commerce has officially removed the controls, allowing the models to be released worldwide starting tomorrow.
The restrictions were imposed earlier in June after US authorities identified vulnerabilities in the safeguards designed to prevent misuse of the high‑capability AI systems. The government ordered Anthropic to cut off access to both models on June 12, citing national security concerns. According to reports, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick informed the company on June 26 that Anthropic had worked with the government to address the risks associated with the models.
