US President Donald Trump said a long‑awaited peace deal with Iran is scheduled to be signed on Sunday, declaring that the Strait of Hormuz would “open to all” immediately after the signing. Posting on Truth Social, Trump said the agreement would end the months‑long conflict in West Asia and restore stability around Iranian ports and shipping lanes.
Iran, however, pushed back on the timeline, with its foreign ministry saying the memorandum would not be signed on Sunday and that negotiations may take “several more days” before a final text is ready. Tehran said progress had been made but insisted remaining differences still needed to be resolved.
Pakistan, which has been mediating between Washington and Tehran, said the final draft had been prepared and could move toward signing soon, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirming Islamabad’s role in facilitating the talks.
Trump also said the United States would take control of Iran’s enriched uranium “dust” once the situation stabilises, adding momentum to discussions aimed at ending hostilities and easing restrictions around Iranian ports.
