Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand in New Delhi and said that India was committed to building a “constructive and forward-looking strategic partnership” with Canada.
In a post on X, PM Modi shared that the two sides held productive discussions on further strengthening bilateral ties across several critical sectors, including trade, technology, security, energy, education, and people-to-people exchanges. “India is committed to building a constructive and forward-looking strategic partnership with Canada that delivers tangible benefits to the people of both countries,” PM Modi stated.
The meeting came a day after PM Modi spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. During their conversation, both leaders agreed to build on the positive momentum in India-Canada relations, pushing for an early conclusion of a bilateral trade pact and aiming to double bilateral trade by 2030.
