AGARTALA: The Tripura State Committee of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS)—the peasants’ front of the CPI(M)—convened a crucial press conference on Sunday evening. The media briefing, headed by veteran leader and AIKS State Secretary Pabitra Kar, took place at 5:30 PM at the organization’s central state committee office.
Ahead of the event, the leadership issued a formal invitation to all print, electronic, and photo journalists across the state, requesting their comprehensive coverage and cooperation. The briefing witnessed a large turnout of media professionals representing various prominent news channels and publications.
During the conference, the AIKS leadership addressed several pressing agrarian issues currently plaguing the farming community in Tripura. Key matters discussed included the demand for fair minimum support prices (MSP) for local produce, the urgent need for subsidized agricultural inputs, and improved irrigation facilities ahead of the farming season.
The organization also highlighted systemic rural distress and sharply criticized the current administration’s agricultural policies. The state committee outlined its upcoming statewide agitation blueprint aimed at safeguarding the rights of local farmers, peasants, and rural laborers.
