Riding Against Drugs: Tripura Police Revs Up 3,000-Km Run to Ekta Nagar

AGARTALA: Tripura Police on Thursday flagged off a 3,000-kilometre motorcycle rally from Agartala to Ekta Nagar in Gujarat to spread awareness against drug abuse and promote the vision of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat.”

The rally set off at 8:45 am from the A.D. Nagar Police Ground, with Director General of Police (in-charge) G.S. Rao formally flagging it off in the presence of senior police officials.

Held under the theme “Fight Against Drugs,” the rally will pass through several states before ending at Ekta Nagar in Kevadia, home to the Statue of Unity. Along the way, the riders will interact with local communities and young people to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.

The rally is part of the National Unity Day celebrations. Motorcycle rallies are being organised across the country under the guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs, with every state, Union Territory and Central Armed Police Force sending a team. The main National Unity Day programme will be held at Ekta Nagar on October 31.

The rally aims to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, particularly among young people, and to encourage communities to take part in the fight against drug addiction, the DGP said.
