Green Signal: NCISM Issues Letter of Permission for Tripura’s First Government Ayurvedic Medical College

AGARTALA: The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) has issued a Letter of Permission to establish the Tripura Government Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital at Tepania in Udaipur, Gomati district, with an intake of 60 seats in the undergraduate BAMS course. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha announced this in a social media post.

Dr Saha thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, for sanctioning the college. He said it would increase medical education and Ayurvedic health services in the state.

The Letter of Permission follows the NCISM’s acceptance, announced in June, of the state government’s proposal for the college, with approval to admit 60 students from the 2026-27 academic session. The Centre had earlier allocated Rs 140 crore for an Ayurveda college in Gomati district and a homeopathic college in Agartala.
