Iran has issued a sharp warning to the United States and its allies, claiming it has intelligence suggesting a major attack is being prepared. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said Tehran would respond with a mix of military action and diplomacy, stressing that Iran must “fight and negotiate” depending on the timing. He argued that Iran would use force to push back adversaries while relying on diplomacy to consolidate battlefield gains.
Qalibaf declared that the Strait of Hormuz — a vital global shipping route — would remain closed until Iran’s conditions are met and Washington fulfils its commitments. The closure comes amid heightened regional anxiety following drone and missile strikes on Saudi Arabia, which have intensified fears of a broader conflict affecting global energy supplies.
Tehran has conveyed seven conditions to Washington for starting negotiations to end the ongoing conflict. These demands, passed through Qatar as mediator, include:
- Ending wars on all fronts
- Releasing Iranian financial assets
- Lifting the US naval blockade of Iranian ports
- Halting fighting involving Yemen and Saudi Arabia
Iran’s military central command warned that any new attack would trigger sustained retaliation against US bases across the region.
The US State Department has issued a security alert advising Americans to remain vigilant, anticipate possible flight cancellations, and prepare for airspace closures as tensions escalate.
