GANDACHERRA: An LDC employee of Gandacherra Sub-divisional Hospital, identified as Jiban Chowdhury, went missing near the Dumboor reservoir late Friday night, prompting a search operation that continued into Saturday.
According to preliminary information, Chowdhury went missing around midnight near the Mashghat area. His shoes, mobile phone and scooter were later recovered from the Nairaha Chowdhurypara area, raising fears that he may have fallen into the reservoir.
Personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services Department, along with the Sub-divisional Disaster Management team and Civil Defence volunteers, launched the search after receiving information about the incident. Teams searched through the night and into Saturday afternoon but could not trace Chowdhury.
A fire service official said the department received information about the missing person from Banamalipur Fire Station and the local Officer-in-Charge, following which Civil Defence volunteers were mobilised to the spot.
The search operation was ongoing at the time of filing.
