AGARTALA: CPI(ML) on Saturday called on voters to defeat what it called the BJP’s “politics of division and deception” and reject Tipra Motha’s “politics of opportunistic compromise,” urging support for candidates of five Left parties in the upcoming Village Committee elections.
Addressing a press conference at the Agartala Press Club, the party said the appeal was aimed at strengthening the movement for land rights, livelihood, education, health, employment, self-governance, language and culture, and constitutional rights. State committee secretary Partha Karmakar and other party leaders were present.
Speakers at the press conference said the call to support Left-backed candidates was being made with the everyday problems and rights of the common people in focus ahead of the polls. They said the movement needed to be intensified around demands including protection of land and livelihood, improved education and health services, expanded employment opportunities, and the establishment of self-governance and language-and-culture rights.
