TELIAMURA: The Border Security Force (BSF) organised a 12-kilometre statewide marathon titled ‘Spandan’ on Thursday, carrying a message of physical fitness and healthy living, at the BSF Sector Head Office premises in Khasiamangal, Teliamura.
More than 250 boys and girls from eight districts of the state took part in the event, held across two categories. The marathon was formally flagged off from the Sector Head Office, with participants covering various routes before returning to the starting point to complete the 12-km run.
Among those present were BSF DIG Rajpal Singh, celebrated gymnast Dipa Karmakar, State Minister for Tribal Welfare Vikash Debbarma, Khowai District Forest Officer IFS Ashok Kumar, and District Magistrate Rajat Pant, along with other BSF officials and dignitaries.
Participants who travelled from various parts of the state showed considerable enthusiasm for the event. The BSF said the primary objective of ‘Spandan’ is to spread awareness about sports, physical fitness and health among the general public.
