BISHRAMGANJ: Police have arrested Dhanyamohan Jamatia, of Bagan Bari Tuirupa area under Killa Police Station, 47 days after he allegedly attacked a widowed housewife, identified as I.D. Sori Molsom, with a dao (machete) on the night of July 27.
The accused was apprehended late last night from a dense forest in the Bagan Bari Tuirupa area and brought to Bishramganj Police Station.
Bishramganj Officer-in-Charge Ajit Debbarma confirmed the arrest, adding that Jamatia would be produced before Bishalgarh Court today.
Police said sustained efforts over the past month and a half led to tracking down the accused, who had reportedly been evading arrest by hiding in forested terrain near his residence.
