Stolen Goods, Smuggled Spirits: Airport Police Bust Racket in Joint Haul

AGARTALA: Airport police seized a huge quantity of foreign liquor and a cache of suspected stolen goods during a raid conducted on the basis of secret information, officials said.

One person was detained during the operation. Police recovered several valuable items suspected to be stolen, including AC piping and electrical wiring, along with numerous cartons of foreign liquor of various brands, which were confiscated on the spot.

The dual recovery — of stolen materials and a large consignment of liquor — has caused considerable stir in the locality, with residents speculating over the scale of the operation.

Police said they are investigating the source of both the stolen goods and the liquor, and examining whether other individuals may be linked to the racket. Officers noted that the seized items point to a possible organised network involved in theft and illicit liquor trade in the area.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against the detained person, who is likely to be produced before a local court shortly. Airport Police Station said further raids may follow as the investigation progresses to identify all those involved.
