Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a sharp warning to Pakistan, declaring that India will respond “strongly and decisively” to any attempt to carry out terrorist attacks on Indian soil. Speaking at Delhi University’s Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) during its centenary celebrations, Modi said those “spreading terrorism are on the back foot” and India will not hesitate to strike across the border if provoked.
Modi reiterated India’s long‑standing stance that it will not remain passive in the face of terror threats. He emphasised that the country has already demonstrated its willingness to take cross‑border action, referencing past operations where Indian forces targeted terror infrastructure inside Pakistan. His remark — “If Pakistan indulges in any misadventure, India’s armed forces will enter their territory and strike” — was widely shared after ANI posted the quote on social media.
The Prime Minister’s comments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with security agencies reporting increased activity by Pakistan‑based terror groups. Modi said India’s counter‑terror capabilities have strengthened significantly, and that the country’s response will be swift and uncompromising if any threat emerges.
The event also highlighted SRCC’s 100‑year legacy, with Modi travelling by metro to the venue and interacting with children during the journey. He praised the institution’s contribution to India’s academic and economic landscape.
