Agartala: A special discussion meeting was held at Pragya Bhavan here on Thursday with the aim of building a drug-free and healthy society, bringing together officials from various levels of the administration.
The meeting focused on keeping the state’s youth away from drug abuse, taking stricter measures against the use of narcotic substances and illegal trafficking, and increasing public awareness. Participants exchanged views on effective steps to build a drug-free society, with particular emphasis on educating the younger generation about the harmful effects of drugs, alongside the collective role of families, educational institutions, the administration, and the public.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Rakesh Debbarma outlined the administration’s ongoing initiatives and future action plans to combat drug abuse. He stressed the need to further strengthen social awareness and for all stakeholders to work together toward this goal.
The ADM noted that administrative measures alone cannot build a drug-free society — it requires the combined efforts of families, society, and the administration. Sustained awareness campaigns and effective action, he said, remain central to building a healthy, safe, and drug-free Tripura.
