Agartala: Tripura’s transport and tourism sector witnessed a new chapter of technological advancement on Thursday, with Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurating an app-based cab (Uber) service and a Tourist Information Centre at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport.
The inaugural event was virtually linked with Agartala and Jogendranagar railway stations, enabling the simultaneous launch of app-based cab services at these key transport hubs. Officials said the integrated use of technology is expected to offer passengers and tourists easier, safer, and more comfortable travel options to and from the airport and railway stations.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Chowdhury said he was extremely delighted to launch the services, describing it as a step toward greater convenience in the transport system and a boost to tourism in the state.
He added that the government’s commitment is to build Tripura into a modern, safe, and tourist-friendly state by making optimal use of digital technology, in line with the state’s push toward modernity.
The move is aimed at strengthening connectivity and improving the overall travel experience for both residents and visitors across key transit points in the state.
