Agartala: Leaders of several surrendered organizations have called a 72-hour bandh across Tripura starting Friday, September 4, to press their long-pending demands. The announcement came at a press conference at Agartala Press Club, led by convener Jibon Joy Reang and other office-bearers.
The leaders said repeated rounds of talks with the state government, including with Minister Bikash Debbarma, have failed to yield meaningful progress. They argued that ministers lack the authority to resolve the matter, saying only Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha can act, and demanded his direct intervention.
If the government does not respond effectively during the 72-hour bandh, the organizations warned they would launch an indefinite blockade. They cautioned that any untoward incident during the agitation would be the responsibility of the state government, holding the Manik Saha-led BJP government accountable.
With the bandh set to begin within days, attention now shifts to its impact on daily life across the state and the government’s response in the lead-up to the shutdown.
