Agartala: A fresh controversy has erupted at Agartala’s Govinda Ballabh Pant (GB) Hospital after the family of a young mother alleged negligence in her treatment following her death.
The deceased has been identified as Monti Bhowmik, mother of an eight-month-old child, whose parental home is in Gandhigram and in-laws’ residence in Udaipur. According to family members, she was admitted to GB Hospital while unwell and died during treatment. The family has questioned the exact cause of death and alleged possible lapses in medical care and hospital services.
Relatives said they are dissatisfied with the treatment provided and believe faster, more effective intervention could have prevented her death, which has left her infant child motherless. The family has demanded an impartial investigation to establish whether medical negligence was involved.
The incident has reignited concerns over patient management and emergency care at GB Hospital, one of the state’s key referral hospitals. Hospital authorities are yet to respond to the allegations.
The family has urged the concerned authorities to investigate the matter seriously and ensure no other family faces a similar tragedy in future.
