DHARMANAGAR: Workers at the Nayapara No. 1 ICDS Anganwadi Centre in Dharmanagar, North Tripura, have alleged that funds for nutritious food meant for children, pregnant women and nursing mothers have not been released for nearly six months, leaving the centre struggling to function.
According to the workers, they had been sourcing food supplies on credit from local shops and covering costs from their own means to keep feeding children, but shopkeepers are now refusing further credit owing to mounting unpaid dues.
The workers also flagged infrastructure gaps at the centre, including the absence of electricity, a toilet and adequate cooking facilities, along with a leaking roof during the rainy season.
They have demanded that the pending allocation be released urgently to restore normal food supply, along with infrastructural upgrades to the centre.
No official response has been received so far from the concerned department regarding the allegations.
