SANTIRBAZAR: A case of an infant allegedly being sold after the mother’s name was tampered with in a hospital register has surfaced in Giddya Kumar Para under Lakshmichhara village, Santirbazar subdivision, with an ASHA worker allegedly implicated in the racket.
According to sources, the child’s mother’s name was reportedly altered in hospital records to facilitate the transaction, allowing the newborn to allegedly be sold within the state. Locals have alleged that the administration is attempting to suppress the matter rather than investigate it thoroughly.
The identities of those allegedly involved, including the ASHA worker named in the allegations, have not been officially confirmed by authorities, and no formal case details have been released so far. No arrests have been reported at this stage.
The allegations have caused unease in the locality, with residents demanding a transparent probe into the hospital’s record-keeping and accountability from officials named in connection with the case.
