SABROOM: A sudden surge in vehicle thefts has triggered widespread anxiety among the residents of Satchand and Kalachhara under the Sabroom sub-division. In the latest incident, a scooty was boldly stolen from outside a residence near the Satchand brick kiln area, marking the third two-wheeler theft in the locality within a single week.
The victim, Gouranga Debnath, reportedly parked his scooty (Registration No. TR08G9270) in front of his house for a brief hour. Upon returning, he found the vehicle gone. Following a frantic but unsuccessful search across the neighborhood, Debnath promptly lodged a missing person’s vehicle report at the Manubazar police station.
This string of consecutive thefts has raised serious concerns about an active vehicle-lifting racket operating at night. Frustrated residents have expressed deep disappointment over the lack of visible police action, noting that over 12 hours have passed since the latest complaint without any breakthrough. Local communities are now urgently demanding intensified night patrolling, the installation of vital CCTV surveillance, and immediate administrative intervention to track down the gang before more property is lost.
