Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that India is pushing ahead with next‑generation reforms across sectors, positioning the country as a global bright spot amid rising economic uncertainty and geopolitical turbulence. Speaking at the Economic Times World Leaders Forum, Modi emphasised that India’s growth story is anchored in political stability, policy continuity, and a governance model focused on ease of living and ease of doing business.
Modi noted that global resources are increasingly being weaponised, creating widespread concerns about growth. Despite this, he said the world views India as a “bright spot of growth and hope”, driven by structural reforms and a clear long‑term economic roadmap. He highlighted that the NDA government is rewarding higher production with incentives, signalling continued support for manufacturing expansion under programmes like Make in India and PLI schemes.
The Prime Minister contrasted his administration’s approach with what he described as the policies of previous regimes, alleging they kept people in scarcity to maintain dependence on the government for basic needs. Modi said his government has shifted India from a mindset of “prohibited unless permitted” to “permitted unless prohibited”, reflecting a broader push toward deregulation and innovation‑friendly governance.
He reiterated that reforms remain a core commitment, with ongoing efforts in infrastructure, digital governance, taxation, logistics, and financial inclusion. Modi also pointed to India’s rising global confidence, strengthened by its demographic advantage, expanding digital economy, and growing role in global supply chains.
