Agartala: Leaders of surrendered NLFT and ATTF factions have announced a 72-hour statewide bandh beginning September 4, alleging that the state government has failed to fulfil rehabilitation-related demands for surrendered militants.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Agartala Press Club on Friday. Along with the bandh, the leadership said blockades would be enforced on key routes, including Churaibari, the Assam-Agartala road, and Akhaura Road near the India-Bangladesh border, on September 4.
NLFT leaders Parimal Debbarma and Prasenjit Debbarma, along with other representatives of the surrendered NLFT and ATTF, were present at the press conference.
This is not the first time the surrendered cadres have raised the issue. In June 2026, they had given a similar call for a 72-hour statewide bandh accompanied by road and rail blockades over the same demands—rehabilitation and implementation of the promised financial package.
The renewed agitation signals growing frustration among surrendered militants over delays in the government’s rehabilitation process, with the groups warning of further action if their demands continue to go unaddressed.
